| Used Car Tires |
|
|
Yep, you read that correctly. We said used tires. Any place where there cars, there'll be car tires
piling up. But, the road to prosperity lies in "seeking first the affirmative use of all apparent limitations."
In other words, taking lemons and making lemonade. In this case, it's more like taking tires and making attire,
and other things.
[Excerpt from Saipan Tribune Article "Enter the Saipanpreneur Zone, Part I")
I think it was fellow Tribune contributor, Tony Pellegrino, who mentioned this one to me. There are lots of things you can do with
old automobile and truck tires. One such idea is to use them make footwear that lasts just about as long as the 50,000 miles the original tires boast!
One webmaster and naturalist has even provided a design plan for such sandals at www.hollowtop.com/sandals.htm (adapted from Participating in Nature: Thomas J. Elpel's Field Guide to Primitive Living Skills). Who knows, you might be able to get a patent for your uniquely Saipan Sandal design or manufacturing process and license it to manufacturers worldwide, or set up your own factory here on island! Check out tirecrafting.com for more ideas.

We are extending a challenge and an opportunity to some forward-thinking entrepreneur who
wants to take the above advice and create and market a line of Saipan attire (or other products)
using the used car tire! Join our Mailing List
and we'll let you know when this page is updated!
